In Nashville, trucks are a commonly seen sight on the interstate. These truckers are driving very large vehicles and when there is an accident with one, it can lead to serious injuries and even fatalities. Regardless of the circumstances, a semi truck accident is something to avoid. However, there are times when they are unavoidable and a truck accident happens with terrible consequences.
A collision between three vehicles on the interstate resulted in six people being hurt and three killed. The accident happened at approximately 1:20 p.m. A Toyota Tacoma was heading east in the right lane when a semi truck that didn't have a trailer attempted to pass on its left. As the pass was being made, the Tacoma changed lanes and hit the truck. The truck then went into the westbound lanes where it hit a Mercury Grand Marquis. The two vehicles flipped over. Three people in the Grand Marquis were killed. The deceased people were a 22-year-old man, a 50-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman. They were all related. A seven-year-old child in the truck and a six-year-old child in the Tacoma were also hurt.
There are many reasons for a truck accident to occur. It could be due to the driver having been drinking before getting on the road, driving for too many hours and becoming fatigued, having a mechanical problem with the truck or due to misfortune. No matter the reason, the reality of serious injuries and death remains the same.
Losing a loved one is never easy and after the costs of the funeral, there are other issues that must be dealt with such as having lost the breadwinner in the household. With injuries come hospital stays and medical expenses. There might be the need for long-term care and the injured person might not be able to return to work. Those who have suffered a loss in a truck accident need to understand that they have rights to seek compensation.
In this multi-vehicle accident, three people were killed and six others were hurt. As the investigation into the truck accident continues, the families of those who were killed and those who were injured need to have an idea of how to move forward.
