## Transportainment Safety Concerns and Accidents on the Rise
Did you know that some of the biggest party buses can fit up to 50 people inside? While renting a party bus or stretch limo seems like a reasonable idea when it comes to your next birthday, bachelorette party or even prom, these transportainment vehicles can often be involved in a variety of accidents.
In recent years there have been [more and more accidents](https://www.newschannel5.com/news/one-run-over-after-fall-from-party-bus-in-nashville) associated with stretch limos, party buses and other types of [transportainment](https://www.wkrn.com/news/local-news/nashville/violating-nashvilles-transportainment-alcohol-ordinance-will-get-you-fined-police-warn/), especially in cities with a higher population of transportainment vehicles, such as Nashville, Tennessee. Being mindful of these large party tractors or hot tub buses will be important as you peruse the city in your own vehicle as well.
Here’s what you need to know about safely maneuvering in or around transportainment vehicles:
- Accidents on a Transportainment Vehicle
- Accidents as a Pedestrian
## Accidents on a Transportainment Vehicle
Even though many people enjoy the atmosphere of transportainment vehicles, such as loud music, drinking, and an array of strobe lights, these experiences can often make one temporarily forget common sense. Guests can often stand up, move around, and dance in these entertainment vehicles. As a result, seat belts are unlikely to be provided or used. [If you are already drunk and have a lack of inhibitions, a sudden turn or a quick stop can cause serious injuries or even death.](https://wpln.org/post/nashville-has-banned-alcohol-on-open-air-party-buses-so-some-operators-are-turning-to-plexiglass/)
Since you are able to move around on a party bus while the vehicle is in motion and if the transportainment is an open-air experience, you run the risk of falling off or out of the vehicle, or hurting yourself while still onboard. In order to avoid an accident while aboard a transportainment vehicle, you’ll want to ensure you are mindful of your drinking and your surroundings.
Be sure to hold onto safety rails or devices and keep your body within the vehicle. [If you are in an open-air party bus](https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/davidson/2021/12/01/nashville-party-vehicles-alcohol-banned-law-fines-davidson-county-tennessee/8815379002/), be sure to avoid moving around the cabin while the vehicle is in motion. Doing so can ensure that you have a good time and keep you safe from falling on the floor or, worse yet, into oncoming traffic.
## Accidents as a Pedestrian
As a [pedestrian in a city](https://www.nhtsa.gov/road-safety/pedestrian-safety) like Nashville that allows such transportainment experiences, you’ll need to be even more careful and aware of your surroundings. As a general rule of thumb, pedestrians should obey traffic signs and signals, walk on sidewalks and crosswalks as well as make themselves visible to oncoming traffic.
However, with much larger, rambunctious vehicles such as party buses or tractors, you’ll want to follow these general guidelines as well:
- Follow the rules of the road by obeying signs & signals
- Walk on sidewalks & cross at proper crosswalks
- Avoid walking too close to oncoming traffic
- Maintain a proper distance away from the road as you travel on foot
- Be sure to stay alert & look/listen for incoming transportainment vehicles
- Keep an eye out for left- or right-turning vehicles in all directions
- Be sure to stay in a well lit area when walking around at night
- Avoid heavy drinking when you intend to travel as a pedestrian
If you or a loved one has been involved in an accident involving a transportainment vehicle, you’ll want to connect with an injury lawyer in [Kentucky](https://bartdurham.com/kentucky/) or [Tennessee](https://bartdurham.com/contact/). A personal injury firm like [Bart Durham Injury Law](https://bartdurham.com/) can ensure you get proper compensation and help you to follow the best practices when it comes to your unique case.
