There is no denying the fact that school buses provide a safe mode of transportation. While this may be true, here's something you need to remember: accidents involving school buses can and do happen throughout the country every year.

Here are some of the many school bus safety tips that your children should follow and that you should be aware of:

  • When waiting for the bus to arrive, stand back from traffic.
  • Never stand on the street or in a driveway when waiting on the bus.
  • Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before approaching the vehicle.
  • If crossing in front of the bus, leave enough space so that the driver can see you.
  • Wait for a signal from the bus driver before walking in front of the bus.
  • Never walk or stop in close proximity to the wheels of a bus.

In addition to these tips, children should also know what it means to stay safe when the bus is in the motion. An example of this would be staying in their seat at all times and avoiding rough behavior.

As a parent, you hope that your child is always safe when he or she is at a school bus stop or riding on the vehicle. Unfortunately, accidents happen that can lead to serious injury or even death.

If your child has been injured in a school bus accident, don't wait a single minute to seek medical treatment. Once you do this, you can then learn more about your legal rights and if there is any action you can take to receive compensation from the negligent party.
