When drivers get behind the wheel of a car, they have their lives and the lives of others in their hands. While many people may not think about how dangerous driving a car can be, a car wreck can put things into perspective.

A car wreck near Nashville provides a sad example. In this case, six people were injured and two people were killed when a driver failed to pay proper attention. According to reports, four cars were involved in the accident. The crash took place near the intersection of Third Avenue North and Jefferson Street Bridge when two people were sitting in their Cadillac at a red light.

Reports claim that while sitting in the Cadillac, a 29-year-old woman driving a pickup truck smashed into the back of them just as the light turned green. This initial impact set off a chain reaction that involved two other cars. The driver and the passenger of the Cadillac were killed on impact. The driver and passenger in the pickup were seriously injured and transported to local hospitals. Four others also suffered less serious injuries.

Th2 29-year-old driver, police say, had been driving on a revoked license. In fact, she had been in court earlier that day to face charges for a previous DUI and accident. The woman has a long history of negligent driving including at least 15 criminal charges for driving on a revoked license since 2006. Police have not decided whether they will bring charges against the woman in this case.

When a person is killed by a negligent driver, the person's family can pursue compensation in a wrongful death suit. While this compensation cannot bring back their loved one, it may help to ease the financial pain caused by the car accident. Negligence can be shown in a variety of ways including not following traffic rules and driving under the influence.
