Most Tennessee residents understand just how important the brain is to the rest of the body. The brain controls a person's ability to think and to reason, but also a person's ability to move and breathe. When the brain is damaged, the rest of the body cannot compensate for the loss.

Sadly, one pregnant Tennessee woman is dealing with a traumatic brain injury following a car accident. In this case the driver of the woman's car fell asleep and crashed into a concrete barrier as they were driving home from a concert in Nashville. In the accident, the woman suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Following the accident, the woman is now in a coma. Doctors say there is up to a 98 percent chance that the woman will never recover from these injuries. At this point, she appears unresponsive to treatment. The woman's baby, on the other hand, seems to be doing alright. Doctors are working to create a plan to keep the baby healthy while hoping the woman recovers.

Traumatic brain injuries can occur in many different ways, but they often result in very serious injuries. These injuries can take months or years for a person to recover, however, in many cases people suffer permanent damage. When that happens, people often require around-the-clock care for the rest of their life. This care can be extremely expensive and burdensome for the victim's family.

When a brain injury is the result of another person's negligence, the victim and that person's family may have legal rights. With the right help, a personal injury suit can get the victim the compensation the person needs to treat the injury, and pay for any long-term care or rehabilitation that they require.
