Accidents are sometimes unavoidable in the streets of Davidson. They can happen for a multitude of reasons from a driver operating a vehicle under the influence to unforeseen circumstances or a reckless driver. Auto accidents don't discriminate. They can happen to anyone at any time and have the potential for serious injury and massive medical expenses if not an outright fatality. It's important to know how to move forward after an accident happens to protect oneself.
A nightmare scenario for parents is if they send their child out on a school bus and that school bus has an accident with their children onboard. This nightmare came to life as a bus with 32 children as passengers went across the center line on the road. It hit a truck that was in the process of towing a Bobcat vehicle, then ran off the road and hit a tree. The 52-year-old female bus driver and 10 children were taken to the hospital. According to witnesses, the roof of the bus above the driver was ripped off. The accident investigation continues to determine the cause of the crash.
When there is a motor vehicle accident of any kind, the long-term ramifications can be significant. With serious injury comes a hospital stay, the possibility of rehabilitation and perhaps long-term care needed. The person who was hurt might never be able to return to complete normalcy, hold a job or function as a member of everyday society. If there is a fatality, the family who was left behind will be without a loved one who not only contributed to them personally, but financially as well.
Insurance companies will do whatever they have to do to keep a tight grip on the bottom line. No matter the cause of the accident, it's important to know how to pursue litigation to be compensated for what happened.
In this case, the early reports indicate that none of the children needed to be admitted to the hospital as a result of this crash. Even with that, there are times when injuries don't manifest themselves until much later. Since the bus hit a truck and then a tree, the accident was clearly jarring. People involved in bus accidents should make sure to understand their legal rights following an accident.
