Auto accidents can happen at any time for many different reasons. Sometimes drivers cause accidents. However, other times a defective or faulty part can be the cause of an accident. If someone in the Nashville area is hurt because of an auto defect, he or she should be aware of all the possible legal ramifications.
Authorities continue to investigate what caused a bus to lose control and overturn on an Indianapolis freeway, recently. Three people were killed in the crash and many others were hurt as the bus, which was carrying several members of a church congregation, was returning home from a camp. According to the 68-year-old driver of the bus, who is a member of the congregation, the bus's brakes failed. The bus then hit a median and turned over on its side.
Among the three people killed in the crash were the church’s youth pastor and his pregnant wife, who were both in their mid-twenty’s. The couple was expecting its second child and their 2-year-old son was one of the passengers, which was injured. It is not known at this time why the brakes failed, but authorities are still investigating the crash.
If it’s determined that the brakes did indeed fail then a jury could find that the maker of the bus as well as the brake manufacturer could be liable for the crash and award family members of those who died or were hurt just compensation. The families of those who were killed or injured may want to speak with an auto defects attorney.
