A car crash has seriously injured two motorists at the Gainesboro Grade and County Farm Road intersection. Both the accident victims were taken to Vanderbilt Hospital based in Nashville, Tennessee. The car accident victims have been identified as a 70-year-old and a 56-year-old, both residents of Backfield Lane, Gainesboro.
The driver of the other car, a 26-year-old woman from Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, also received injuries during the accident. The woman was taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. She was later released from the hospital.
The woman was driving a 2007 Dodge toward the County Farm Road intersection. Suddenly, a Toyota pulled in front of the woman. According to authorities, the Toyota Camry stopped at a stop sign then took a left turn into the path of the other driver. The police assume that the driver of the Camry did not see the other car, which crashed into the driver's side door.
According to the police reports, the 70-year-old was not wearing seat belt at the time of the accident. However, the front seat passenger and the driver of the Dodge were both wearing seatbelts. Both the occupants of the Toyota received serious injuries and were airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Both are in critical condition.
The accident investigation is ongoing. However, the police believe that the driver of the Camry failed to notice the other car and drove directly into the path of the oncoming car.
